Conservative leader Andrew Scheer risks losing critically needed support of socially conservative Canadians who demand that he seriously reconsider his opposition to reopening debate on what he calls “divisive social issues” such as abortion, euthanasia, and same-sex marriage.
Scheer, a Catholic with 5 children and a past 100% pro-life, pro-family voting record, severely disappointed a huge swathe of socially conservative Canadians (and, Canadian libertarians), this week, when he vowed to do nothing to oppose Trudeau's extreme Leftist social policies.
By saying that he will “oppose” any “measures or attempts” to reopen the abortion debate and other “divisive social issues” such as homosexual “marriage", Scheer is alienating social conservatives who want him and his party to give them a clear alternative to vote for, in the upcoming federal election.
This urgent petition calls on Andrew Scheer to seriously reconsider his position, and very bad advice from his political advisors on socially conservative issues, or risk losing the election.
And, that is something which no-one wants: four more years of the most extreme and radically Leftist social policies in the world, which could be devastating for Canada.
Equally, no-one wants a cowardly PM, even afraid to voice support for his own convictions.
This "do-nothing" position may be politically expedient, but it is morally bankrupt.
Especially, as we have witnessed the Trudeau Administration spend BILLIONS (with a "B") of dollars of Canadians' tax receipts to advance some of the most morally reprehensible social policies on the planet.
Canadians will remember the billions of tax-payer monies spent to promote abortion around the world, and the millions spent at home, to promote homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and euthanasia, as well as the denial of summer job grants to organizations that oppose abortion.
Canadians want to see some definite opposition to these devastating policies, as well as the backbone required to oppose them.
Saying that "nothing will change" does not give a reason for socially conservative Canadians to leave home to vote on polling day.
And, if he continues to stick to this "do-nothing" policy, Scheer may well be shooting himself (and, the country) in the foot.
This petition calls on Andrew Scheer to have the courage of his own social-moral convictions, and offer the alternative of someone who will bravely lead Canada into a future clearly different from that which the Liberals are leading the nation.
It is no longer acceptable to remain cautiously mute on serious social matters, only allowing party members to vote their conscience. What is required now is a real, vocal alternative - both in positions of opposition and, or, leadership.
