We ask that only Catholic WOMEN sign this petition. Men will have a chance to sign later, but right now, we are asking that only females sign. This petition has been written by and for women, so as to communicate a specific message to the Holy Father: Women are not oppressed by Christ's design for His Church and the Sacrament of Holy Orders being reserved for men only. Please do not ordain women to the diaconate.

Sacred Scriptures teach it.

Canon Law defines it.

Popes throughout the history have stated it.

Prominent cardinals, bishops, and theologians have also clearly affirmed it.

And, Pope Francis, too, reaffirmed it in late 2016.

Only baptised men can validly receive sacred ordination.

Jesus Christ came as a man and established his priesthood in persona Christi, in the person of Christ. Therefore, all ministers ordained to His ministry must also be men, not women.

In adhering to this principle, we follow the Mother of God, a woman with the highest dignity of any human person in the Church.

Still, there are voices within the Church who are advocating for women's ordination – in particular, to the diaconate – as part of the "reform" being pushed for in the upcoming Amazon Synod, set to take place this October.

This partnered petition, written by women from the Voice of the Family and LifeSiteNews, calls on Catholic women to raise their voices in an urgent appeal to the Holy Father: Please, REJECT the false idea of a female diaconate at the Amazon Synod.

Cardinal Gerhard Müller, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith from 2012 to 2017, just reiterated his objection to female ordination, including that of women deacons.

"The Magisterium of the Pope and of the bishops has no authority over the substance of the Sacraments. Therefore, no synod – with or without the Pope – and also no ecumenical council, or the Pope alone, if he spoke ex cathedra, could make possible the ordination of women as bishop, priest, or deacon. They would stand in contradiction to the defined doctrine of the Church."

So, for agenda-driven people to suggest otherwise is either intellectually lazy, or disingenuous, or both.

This petition, sponsored and supported by Catholic women, calls on Pope Francis to uphold the traditional doctrine of the Church on Holy Orders being reserved only for men.

This petition is for Catholic women who simply wish to have the Faith, which Christ handed to the Apostles, be preserved and revered. We women are not "suppressed" by not participating in Holy Orders.

This petition also supports all members of the faithful who simply want the Pope to uphold the Faith as it has been handed down to us.

Pope St. John Paul II states the following in his encyclical Ordinatio Sacerdotalis 3:

"The fact that the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and Mother of the Church, received neither the mission proper to the Apostles nor the ministerial priesthood clearly shows that the non-admission of women to priestly ordination cannot mean that women are of lesser dignity, nor can it be construed as discrimination against them. Rather, it is to be seen as the faithful observance of a plan to be ascribed to the wisdom of the Lord of the universe."

Calling all Catholic Women! Please SIGN this petition, and then please SHARE with your like-minded female family members, friends, and colleagues! Thank you!
