The Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) were legally threatened by death-promoting advocates of euthanasia to make the practice available in all publicly-funded hospitals in the province, including Catholic hospitals.
The result is that one Catholic hospital, St. Martha's Regional Hospital, is now being forced, against its founder's will, to make euthanasia - where a doctor willfully ends the life of a patient - available on its campus.
This vile act by the NSHA must not be allowed to stand, and must be rescinded and resisted.
Please SIGN this petition which demands that the NSHA respect the agreement it has with the Sister of St. Martha, and rescind this death-inducing order immediately.
Till now, the pro-life wishes of the Sisters of St. Martha, who believe in the sanctity of human life and are against euthanasia, had been respected by the province, which made an agreement with the sisters to that effect when they handed over management to the province in 1996.
But, this exemption annoyed several vocal death-promoting advocates of euthanasia, who threatened the province with a legal challenge if it did not amend its policy to force euthanasia on all hospitals receiving public funding.
Then, in a stunning and revolting about-face, the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) said in a statement to Global News: “Assessments and provision of MAiD [medical assistance in dying] will be available in a section of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital complex at the Antigonish Health and Wellness Centre.”
This cowardly and conniving act by the NSHA must be rescinded, and resisted by the Church.
To paraphrase St. Augustine, "an unjust law is no law at all", and those who promote and advocate for such policy changes are, themselves, guilty of terrible crimes.
No hospital that kills its own patients can bear the name "Catholic". And, some have questioned whether or not St Martha's is still a "Catholic" hospital, deserving of affiliation to the Church.
The Church must never be forced to turn its centers of healing into murder centers.
And, the bishops of the diocese know this well.
If this is the case, it would be better for the Church to be out of healthcare altogether then to lend its good name to the heinous practice of doctors being asked to murder their patients.
SIGN this petition and DEMAND that the NSHA rescind this tyrannical policy change which violates the spirit and letter of the agreement they had with the Sisters of St. Martha not to introduce euthanasia into their hospital.
This petition will be CC'ed to the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth and to the Liberal leader of the province, Stephen McNeil.
Thank you for SIGNING and SHARING now!
