Illinois Bishop Thomas Paprocki is facing huge backlash after asking his diocesan priests to follow Catholic teaching on homosexuality.

Last week the Bishop issued pastoral guidelines regarding same-sex couples to priests under his charge.

He said that those in same-sex "marriages" shouldn't present themselves to or be admitted to Holy Communion, nor should they receive a Catholic funeral if they died without showing signs of repentance.

Paprocki’s guidelines where simply following what the Catholic Church already teaches about the proper disposition one needs in order to worthily receive the sacraments.

But left-leaning media along with homosexual activists were especially enraged at Paprocki’s guidelines, especially regarding funerals for unrepentant gays.

But again, the bishop was simply applying Canon Law which states that “manifest sinners…cannot be granted ecclesiastical funerals” if it gives “public scandal” to the faithful, that is, if it leads another to “do evil.”

Paprocki wrote that he has a "responsibility as diocesan bishop to guide the people of God entrusted to me with charity but without compromising the truth."

"The Church has not only the authority, but the serious obligation, to affirm its authentic teaching on marriage and to preserve and foster the sacred value of the married state," he said.

Let’s support this courageous bishop for heroically defending the truths of our Catholic faith in word and action.
