Georgetown University - a Catholic University - has invited Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards to speak at the university on April 20th. This scandal must be stopped. Send a strong message to Georgetown demanding that they rescind their invitation to Richards, who heads up the United States' largest abortion organization.

PETITION TO
Georgetown University

We, the undersigned, call on Georgetown University to cancel Cecile Richards’ speech on April 20th for the following reasons:

1) Georgetown University is a Catholic school of higher education. The Catholic Church teaches that abortion is a ‘grave evil,’ an ‘unspeakable crime.’ It cannot be tolerated. Cecile Richards is the president of Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider who last year, committed 327, 999 abortions. That is reprehensible. Georgetown University should be bringing to campus speakers who promote and encourage the protection of life and adhere to Catholic teaching, not those who outwardly and publicly oppose it.

2) By hosting Cecile Richards, Georgetown University is sending a contradictory message to their students about abortion, one that is harmful to the development of Catholic education while posing a scandal to the wider community. The school should be encouraging deeper knowledge and understanding of the Catholic teachings about life, not injecting a speaker into the conversation who opposes the protection of innocent life.

3) Planned Parenthood uses women and their prenatal children for profit, pushing abortion above all else. They were caught in undercover videos from the Center for Medical Progress discussing the sale and harvesting of the body parts of aborted babies. The organization has been caught covering up statutory rape, double-billing taxpayers, aiding and abetting sex traffickers, scheduling sex-selective abortions and accepting money to abort African American children. And they get over $500 million a year in taxpayer dollars to do such evil. To invite Cecile Richards, the head of this organization, is a disgrace to Georgetown University and an affront to Christian values.

4) Planned Parenthood betrays women on a daily basis. They violate patient trust and betray women when they sell their child’s body parts without consent. They violate patient treatment ethics and betray women when they change the abortion procedure to procure better fetal tissue for profit. They betray women when they deny the humanity of the life within their womb. Georgetown University needs to stand up for the empowerment of women.

We call on Georgetown University to adhere to their Judeo-Christian values and rescind Cecile Richards invitation to speak. We ask instead that someone who supports Catholic teaching, would enhance a truly Christian formation of conscience, respects the true dignity of women, and promotes a Culture of Life be invited.
