The burning of the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris is a tragedy.
For more than 800 years, this beautiful church stood as a monument to Almighty God, withstanding everything from world wars to revolutions.
Now, French President Emmanuel Macron is suggesting France may rebuild the parts of Notre Dame destroyed by the fire in accordance with "modern" principles.
Others have said that it was a "liberating" act that Notre Dame was burned. Some believe Notre Dame is too Catholic and doesn't reflect an "inclusive" contemporary France.
This petition opposes those who think they can improve on what Notre Dame was. It opposes those who want to change or rebuild Notre Dame with "modern" ideas. Those who erected Notre Dame in the first place got it right.
No matter how the fire started, it seems God protected this architectural jewel by not allowing the two towers or walls to come crumbling down. It also seems to be divine providence that the rose windows, the high altar, relics, crown of thorns, and countless other pieces of art were not damaged.
We need to show our gratitude to God for sparing this gorgeous Cathedral and rebuild it the way it was before.
Therefore, this petition calls on French authorities to uphold the Catholic integrity of Notre Dame and to oppose any efforts at "modernizing" this beautiful church.
