Jesuit Father Greg Boyle, a priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, is scheduled to give the keynote address for the Diocese of Orange, California’s Diocesan Ministries Celebration on October 14.
Father Boyle, a longtime advocate for gang-involved individuals, has made numerous troubling statements about gay “marriage,” women’s ordination and worthiness to receive Holy Communion that are in conflict with the Catholic Church’s teaching. At times these statements have been delivered with ridicule.
Concerned local Catholics in the Diocese of Orange are asking Bishop Kevin Vann to secure another speaker in Father Boyle’s place on October 14 so that the Catholic laity attending at the catechetical gathering will not be scandalized.
Prayerfully ask Bishop Vann to observe and uphold the USCCB statement, "Catholics in Political Life," and not allow his diocesan venue to be used for a speaker who does not uphold the Church’s fundamental moral teaching.
