One of Capitol Records' female artists, Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, also known by the deliberately-androgynous name "Halsey," is releasing a new album in August whose cover sacrilegiously depicts Frangipane as the Blessed Virgin Mary with one of her breasts exposed. (See the image above - the vulgar part, along with the infant on her knee, has been concealed).
Please SIGN and SHARE this petition to defend the honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and demand that Capitol Records scrap this highly offensive cover.
Just a few days' ago, Frangipane showcased the release of this "cover art" in a video made with the help of The Metropolitan Museum of New York, which allowed her to shoot the promotional video on the museum floor.
In the bizarre thirteen minute video, a scantily-clad and obviously pregnant Frangipane is followed around The Met while she stops periodically to gaze at works of sacred art - mostly Baroque depictions of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
By the end of the video, when she introduces her new sacrilegious album cover "artwork," the viewer is left with the distinct impression that this poor soul has a Virgin Mary complex, delusionally identifying herself with the Virgin Mother of God.
Indeed, in a statement made about the idea behind the album cover, Frangipane says that one of the main themes of the new album is: "The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore," which, by her statement, she sees in herself.
This kind of personal revelation is disturbing, but Capitol Records cannot allow one person's psychological frailty to scandalize the religious sentiment of those who hold dear the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God.
Please SIGN and SHARE this petition which asks the CEO of Capitol Records, Jeff Vaughn, to scrap the sacrilegious cover of Ashley Frangipane's (aka "Halsey") new album.
