The Trump Administration has taken a huge step in stopping American taxpayer funding from going to fund ANY abortion-related activity abroad!
We need to thank President Trump and his Administration for taking this bold step - and, that's what this petition does!
Secretary Mike Pompeo has confirmed that, by implementing the Siljander Amendment, the Trump Administration is closing a loophole that permits “backdoor funding schemes,” under which foreign aid recipients that don’t commit or promote abortion themselves can still give money to other organizations that do.
The administration is also cutting an unspecified amount of aid to the Organization of American States (OAS) for its proven pro-abortion lobbying across Latin America and the Caribbean.
This is a major step forward for the pro-life community and will save many lives, especially as it will diminish the ability of NGOs and international institutions to pressure pro-life countries to change their laws against abortion.
The announcement is the Trump administration’s latest step to improve on the Mexico City Policy (or Protecting Life in Global Health Assistance rule).
“Implementing the Siljander Amendment is massive because it applies to all foreign assistance funds,” Personhood Alliance president Gualberto Garcia Jones, Esq., explained to LifeSiteNews.
“These NGOs have basically infiltrated and control all of these international organs, and had basically created a US-funded lobby group for abortion with the facade of implementing international law.
“Now, the State Department will have to examine all foreign assistance funding and if any international organizations (not just NGOs, but multilateral bodies like the OAS and the UN) are pushing for the legalization of abortion, they will not be able to receive funds,” Jones continued.
Previously, it applied to approximately $60 million in foreign aid money, but President Trump expanded it to cover about $8.8 billion in funds appropriated to the Department of State, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Department of Defense.
Announcing the new, expanded policy, Sec. Pompeo said that Mr. Trump "boldly" strengthened the policy to "now protect every human life impacted by the nearly $9 billion dollars of foreign aid we spend on global health programs each year, and in turn, protect more unborn babies than ever before."
Sec. Pompeo added: "This is decent, this is right and I'm proud to serve in an administration that protects the least amongst us."
Please SIGN this petition which thanks President Trump for strengthening the application of his administration's pro-life principles.
