To Canada's Parliament: Protect EVERY unborn child from abortion. Repeal section 223 (1)

Background:

It has been almost 50 years since Canada liberalized its abortion law, and to date at least 3.7 MILLION children have been killed by induced abortion across this nation.

Meanwhile, the sciences of embryology and fetology, and other technological advances have proven beyond any doubt that a fully human and unique individual comes into being at the moment of fertilization. Ultrasound, intrauterine photography, micro-surgery and fetal health interventions have confirmed that a preborn child is a distinct, developing, fully alive human being, regardless of the means of procreation, age, race, sex, physical or mental disability.

However, the scientifically outdated Section 223 (1) of the Canadian Criminal Code still states, "A child becomes a human being within the meaning of this Act when it has completely proceeded, in a living state, from the body of its mother." Meanwhile, section 223 (2), under the heading of "killing child," states "A person commits homicide when he causes injury to a child before or during its birth as a result of which the child dies after becoming a human being."

This leaves Canadian unborn babies completely unprotected in law. It's time to repeal these antiquated, barbaric sections of the criminal code, and to replace them with scientifically accurate language that ensures that every human being in Canada has its right to life protected by law.
