At this fear-filled and spiritually-troubling time in world history, the U.S. and Canadian Catholic bishops could bring abundant spiritual and material protection to our countries by reconsecrating them to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
By imploring the intercession of the Mother of God and the mercy of Jesus, our bishops could unite the faithful in the hope which only faith in God can bring.
Please sign this petition, which will be sent to the U.S. and Canadian Catholic bishops, and which will ask them to rededicate the United States and Canada to Our Lord and Our Lady.
This would be a great spiritual initiative, which other Catholic bishops, around the world, have done in their own countries.
In fact, just in the past week, on the Feast of the Annunciation (March 25th), bishops in 24 countries consecrated their nations to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
The consecration was initiated by the bishops of Portugal in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Apart from Portugal, the 23 other countries consecrated were: Albania, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Slovakia, Guatemala, Hungary, India, Mexico, Moldova, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Kenya, the Dominican Republic, Romania, Spain, Tanzania, East Timor, and Zimbabwe.

In the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Fatima, Portugal, Cardinal António Marto, the local bishop of Leiria-Fatima, recited the prayer of consecration. [Read prayer below.]
This beautiful prayer could easily be adapted for use in the United States and Canada.
And, it could also serve to enliven the souls of the faithful in the United States and Canada, who are suffering as a result of being unable to access the Sacraments at this time.
By doing this, you could show leadership, asking families to enthrone the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in their homes.
In this way, the coronavirus crisis can be an event which inspires deeper devotion to the loving Hearts of Jesus and Mary in every family, and not just something to be suffered through and forgotten after a few months.
