Scott Lloyd, the director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement in the Department of Health and Human Services, is one of the greatest unsung heroes of President Trump’s administration.

A father of six who formerly worked for the Knights of Columbus and has written articles for the National Catholic Register and Ethika Politika, Lloyd has directly saved countless preborn babies, by preventing abortions for illegal immigrant minors in federal custody.

One such case made national headlines last year, in which he and the Justice Department heroically resisted the left-wing American Civil Liberties Union’s push to facilitate an abortion for a 17-year-old girl. The abortion lobby tragically won that case, but in doing so made Lloyd’s efforts nationally known.

Recently, the left-wing magazine Mother Jones reignited the abortion lobby’s anger by publishing excerpts of a pro-life essay Lloyd wrote as a Catholic University law student.

The six-page piece made a deep impression on Lloyd’s classmates for both his intense condemnations of abortion and his candid, heartfelt account of reluctantly agreeing to pay for an abortion in his past.

Since then “I’ve realized that absolutely every single reason to support an abortion is a distortion of the truth,” Lloyd wrote. “Two steps beyond all of them is a proper investigation of the matter, and two steps back reveals the fear and selfishness behind them.”

Lloyd reminded readers that pregnancy involves not just a woman’s rights, but “a fetus’s right to life” and a “father’s right to be a father”; and highlighted the similarity of abortion-on-demand’s death toll to that of the Nazi Holocaust.

“Neither type of murder is more or less tragic, but don’t fool yourself into thinking that they are not both tragedies, and they are not both murder,” he declared.

Naturally, the story quickly provoked a torrent of hate from pro-abortion groups and publications. Scores of stories have called Lloyd “extreme,” “fringe,” and “villainous.” The so-called Center for Reproductive Rights demanded Lloyd’s “immediate removal” from office. NARAL called his views “absolutely appalling.”

Numerous headlines, following the Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s lead, are even framing his confession about his past abortion regret as proof that Lloyd is somehow a hypocrite.

The truth is that Scott Lloyd is a pro-life hero who deserves to know that the abortion lobby doesn’t speak for America.

Don’t let the abortion lobby’s intimidation campaign monopolize the conversation. Sign the petition to let Scott Lloyd know you support the critical work he’s doing.
